Local American Cancer Society to Benefit

ALBANY, N.Y. - On Thursday, May 29, 2014, Protective Industrial Products (PIP) will present the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk with a check for $15,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society. This donation kicks off the strides fundraising season.
"PIP's unrelenting dedication and commitment to our organization continues to impact people affected by cancer in our community," said Tammy Lennox, Specialist, Community Events, at the American Cancer Society. "We feel privileged to receive this tremendous donation."
The American Cancer Society will be hosting its annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Washington Park on Sunday, October 19, 2014. Each year the walk attracts over 15,000 participants who come together in the community to help finish the fight against cancer.
Protective Industrial Products is an American Cancer Society flagship sponsor for the event and a longtime partner in the fight against cancer. Employee members donate numerous volunteer hours, form teams to participate in the walk, and ensure that their vendors and clients continue to support the organization, our communities and those they serve.
The check presentation begins at 11:30 a.m. at Protective Industrial Products located at 968 Albany Shaker Road in Latham.

About the American Cancer Society:
The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with more than a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation's largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
